DARS measures the height directly above the front axle, not at the vehicle's tallest point. Motorhomes are placed in 2A regardless of height, while many vans and light commercial vehicles fall into 2B. Use the official measured-vehicle list when the model is uncertain.
The plate is the invisible sticker
The e-vignette record joins the plate number, registration country, vehicle class and validity period. Read the confirmation character by character before the motorway camera does.
Choose the first valid day deliberately
The purchase flow lets you select when validity begins. Match that date to the first motorway journey rather than automatically starting the pass on the day you buy it.
A rental car may already have the road
Ask the rental company whether the exact plate is covered, which class applies and how validity can be checked. Avoid buying a duplicate until the vehicle's current record is clear.
Use the shop that owns the road
Third-party sellers may add service fees or present rules less clearly. DARS operates the official webshop and publishes the measured-vehicle list, making it the safest place to answer both the purchase and classification questions.
