The city simplifies the zones
Within Bratislava's city boundaries, zones 100 and 101 are built into the city ticket products, so visitors mainly choose enough time. Travel into the surrounding region requires both the correct number of zones and sufficient minutes.
A train moves the validator to the platform
When a journey starts on a participating train, the paper ticket is normally validated before boarding at the platform validator. A ticket purchased immediately for a specific journey may already carry its start and expiry instead.
Contactless can replace the paper ritual
On Bratislava public transport, validators marked with the contactless symbol and TAPni sa can sell selected tickets directly to a bank card or device. Use the same payment device if you want its daily fare limit to recognize earlier purchases.
The phone ticket must arrive before you board
SMS tickets depend on supported Slovak mobile operators and can take time to arrive. The ticket is valid only after receipt, so an international visitor should not treat a sent message as immediate proof of travel.
