The official ticket portal is tickets.museivaticani.va. A reseller may add a guide, transfer or other service, but a higher total should describe that extra value clearly rather than disguise itself as ordinary admission.
Reduced does not mean undocumented
The current reduced ticket is EUR 10, with the same EUR 5 official online booking fee. Student and other reduced categories require the stated eligibility and supporting document, so carry the original proof needed at entry.
The last Sunday is free, not frictionless
The Museums currently offer free entry on the last Sunday of the month when the opening calendar allows it. Hours are shorter, final entry is earlier and demand can be intense, so zero admission does not guarantee the calmest visit.
Young children and accessibility have separate rules
Children below seven enter free. Visitors with certified disability of at least 67% may receive free entry, with a companion included when the visitor is not self-sufficient. Those tickets are issued at the dedicated desks rather than booked online.
