The euro banknote theme is imagined European architecture rather than real monuments: windows and gateways move from classical to modern styles, while bridges on the reverse suggest connection. Cash by Country artwork is an original, simplified interpretation and is not legal tender.

The same face changes with the metal
The portrait appears on copper-coloured cents, gold-coloured 10, 20 and 50 cent pieces, and the bimetallic EUR 1 and EUR 2 coins. That repetition makes Luxembourg's national side unusually easy to identify once you know the face.
The reverse still tells you the value
Like every euro coin, a Luxembourg piece has a shared European side. Turn the coin to that side for the denomination; turn it back for the issuing country. A Luxembourg EUR 1 is worth exactly the same as an Irish or Italian EUR 1.
Small country, active EUR 2 storyteller
Luxembourg also issues commemorative EUR 2 coins. Recent designs have marked the Grand Duke's reign, the Grand Ducal Palace and major moments in European history. These special national faces remain ordinary legal-tender EUR 2 coins.
Shared notes, local pocket change
A EUR 20 note does not become Luxembourgish at the border. Euro banknotes use the same designs throughout the euro area, while the coins provide the country clue. Use our original illustrations for recognition, then check a real note by feel, watermark, security thread and hologram.
